Know your Plant
- Erect, spear-like and stiff leaves; usually 2 to 4 feet in length.
- Often with yellow or green coloration.
- A good starter plant for those new to growing houseplants.
- It is easy to grow and tolerates a great deal of neglect.
- It removes airborne toxins.
- Differs from most houseplants in that it produces oxygen & removes carbon dioxide at night.
- Also used in holistic medicine as a pain reliever & to treat in skin irritation.
Plant Essentials
Light
Thrives in good light (semi-sun) but can easily tolerate a wide range of light conditions including light shade.
Temperature
Can adapt to warm and cool temperatures. (18-27°C)
Water
Water sparingly, once every couple of weeks. Water when the top 1” of soil is dry. Do not let sit in water.
Media
Use a cactus compost to grow. In Hydroculture it can grow for years without repotting.
Fertiliser
Apply Half Strength balanced liquid fertiliser every month from spring to autumn.
Potting
Plant in a pot that will just accommodate the roots. Repot only when tightly root bound.
